Telecommunications

The communications landscape has dramatically changed since the 1996 Telecommunications Act and it continues to transform today.  Consumers have access to a wider variety of services from more providers at competitive prices than anyone could have ever thought possible.  Personal communications devices have become an integral part of almost everyone’s business and personal lives.  This growth is attributable to a marketplace that has been in large part competition driven without interference of burdensome government regulation.  Innovation is the key to providing better products and services to consumers at better prices, and we must foster an economic environment that encourages competition for customers.  We must also continue to work towards ensuring that services are available to all customers who want them, and continue pushing further out so that our rural areas are not caught on the wrong side of the “digital divide”.
